Best advice you ever received?

Surround yourself with impactful leaders and do more listening than speaking. Success isn’t achieved alone, and you need the people around you to support you. Treat those around you with respect, regardless of their rank or status.

What would most people be surprised to learn about you?

I have three “300” bowling games and two holes-in-one.

What do you consider your “big break” in your career, so far?

When my longtime manager left the company to take another opportunity. While it was great for him and sad for us to lose him, it gave me the opportunity to accelerate my growth and take on challenges earlier in my career than I may have otherwise. This was one of my first indications that you have to seize opportunities when they come, as you never know if they may come again.

What’s the biggest issue facing the Corridor?

Talented people that grow up here are leaving to go to school outside the Corridor and not returning or leaving for full-time employment after they graduate high school or college. There are many exciting things happening in the Corridor, but we need to continue to have a vibrant workforce to keep the momentum going and we need people to stay here. This helps our local economy and the companies and nonprofits that operate in it be as successful as they can be.

If you had $1 million to give, what causes would you support?

Junior Achievement has wonderful programming that is critical to our students in learning more about financial literacy. Having a solid foundation of financial knowledge at a young age gives students a better chance of prosperity in the future. The Boys and Girls Club of the Corridor is another great organization that is so important to our community in providing resources for kids that need it. Kids First Law Center is an organization that does amazing work and serves a need for kids that are dealing with difficult situations and working to make the best of them so that they can have a brighter future.
