Experience

Brian has more than 30 years of professional business experience, including 20+ years of progressive experience in internal audit, seven years in management-level finance and six years in executive-level management. As a national practice director of quality assessment services for a nationwide professional service provider, he directed and led hundreds of quality assessment internal audit engagements for a wide variety of clients, including several Fortune 100 companies. Prior to this, Brian was AVP of quality audit services for the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), where his group was the driving force in the rollout of the new quality assessment initiatives. During this time, he was involved in more than 100 quality assessment and other quality-related projects. Since leaving the IIA, Brian has continued as a presenter/instructor for the institute with a specific focus on both the external and internal quality assessment classes. He joined Honkamp in 2019.

Over his career, Brian has served in a variety of executive financial and operational positions, including senior vice president of operations, chief financial officer, controller, manager of financial planning and analysis/budgeting, and chief audit executive. He maintained his CISA certification from 2003 to 2018 and CCA certification from 2010 to 2022.
