IRS Grants Tax Relief to Missouri Storm Victims, Extends Deadlines to November 3, 2025

Recently, the IRS announced tax relief for individuals and businesses in parts of Missouri affected by the severe storms that began on March 14, 2025. Taxpayers in designated counties now have until November 3, 2025, to file various federal individual and business tax returns and make tax payments.
Who Qualifies?
This relief applies to individuals and businesses located in the following counties: Bollinger, Butler, Callaway, Camden, Carter, Dunklin, Franklin, Howell, Iron, Jefferson, Madison, New Madrid, Oregon, Ozark, Perry, Phelps, Reynolds, Ripley, Scott, Shannon, St. Louis, Stoddard, Wayne, Webster, and Wright.
Extended Deadlines
For Individuals:
- 2024 individual income tax returns and payments (originally due April 15, 2025)
- 2024 contributions to IRAs and HSAs
- 2025 estimated tax payments due April 15, June 16, and September 15, 2025
For Businesses and Other Entities:
- Quarterly payroll and excise tax returns due April 30, July 31, and October 31, 2025
- Calendar-year partnership and S corporation returns due March 17, 2025
- Calendar-year corporation and fiduciary returns and payments due April 15, 2025
- Calendar-year tax-exempt organization returns due May 15, 2025
- Penalties for payroll and excise tax deposits due between March 14 and March 31, 2025, will be abated if deposits were made by March 31, 2025
Important Note: This relief does not apply to 2025 quarterly estimated payments for corporations or fiduciary returns.
At this time, the Missouri Department of Revenue has not issued similar relief. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
